Riyad Mahrez captured after unsuccessful escape attempt from Leicester City

Leicester City football player, Riyad Mahrez, has been found after fleeing training game.

The news comes just two hours after the prolific winger fled during a practice game at Belvoir Drive, Leicester's training ground. It is understood Mahrez went on one of his trademark tearing runs, only to leave the ball behind and continue his sprint off the field and into a nearby housing estate.

He was found by Traffic and Highway Patrol officers running along the hard shoulder of the M1 motorway. The 2015/16 Premier League winner revealed to the officers he was trying to reach Stamford Bridge, stating he "just wants to be with [N'Golo] Kante again".

Mahrez told the officers he has tried everything to make Chelsea notice him, including dying his hair bleach blonde and playing well again just in time for the transfer window, but the club are yet to make an offer.

We caught up with Leicester City manager, Claude Puel, who had this to say:

"Unfortunately, it isn't the first time he's tried to do this, and it likely won't be the last.

"I'm just glad he is safe. We've already got his hot cocoa and blanket waiting for him back at the training complex and hopefully we can convince him to stay again."
