Mbappé "devastated" by Newcastle takeover collapse

Newcastle target Kylian Mbappé is devastated by the news that a Saudi-backed consortium pulled out of a takeover deal for the club, it has emerged.

The Paris Saint-Germain forward confirmed in an interview with French newspaper L'Equipe that he was all set to join the 'Toon' this summer and is apparently as upset as anyone.

The World Cup winner lamented:

"I'm devastated. We had the contract signed and everything. My agent told me I'd be playing alongside Ronaldo and Mané with Pogba sitting just behind us, pulling the strings.

"I'd picked out a lovely house in Gosforth and was really excited to try what I'd heard was the best fish and chips in the whole United Kingdom.

"I'm also a massive fan of the TV show, Vera, and I was so looking forward to taking the Vera Tour of Newcastle TV Locations and discovering all the places in which she'd solved her best cases. I guess for me those places will remain a mystery."
