Gareth Bale still can't speak Welsh after 30 years of being Welsh
Real Madrid star and Wales forward Gareth Bale has come under fire once again after a teammate suggested he still can't speak Welsh, despite being a Welshman for over 30 years.
The 30-year-old is often criticised by fans and the media for failing to learn Spanish since he joined Real Madrid from Tottenham Hotspur back in 2013 for a then-record of £85million.
But according to Welsh compatriot and Juventus midfielder Aaron Ramsey, Bale can't even speak the language of his home country, never mind Spanish.
Ramsey claims that even during Wales' historic semi-final run at the 2016 Euros, players would greet Bale with a 'bore da' (good morning) or a 'sut dach chi' ('how are you') and he would either just stand there, expressionless, or smile and walk away.
Wales captain Ashley Williams has defended his countryman though, claiming Bale can in fact speak Welsh, but he is just too shy to use it during interviews.
Given the Welsh word for football is pêl-droed and there's a place in Wales actually called Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch, can you really blame him?
